Mapping out the unconscious mind

Alchemy and Art

Scottish contemporary artist, Julia Clare McTiernan, is primarily focused on painting narrative driven scenes. Paintings that represent the teachings and experiences she has hoarded throughout the years of intrigue with mysticism, psychology and particularly dream symbolism. Her first solo exhibition (in November, 2024, titled: "The Hero's Journey: An Exploration of Unconscious and Conscious Symbols within the Psyche")  had the objective of transforming Julia as an artist through her own Hero's Journey. While sharing these ideas with a wider audience, Julia has also been able to trans-mutate her artistry through new paintings techniques, styles and inspiration.
